What’s December at Valda Energy without some festive cheer?
Over the month, we held various festive activities to spread joy around the office. From reindeer hoop toss and festive bingo to team scavenger hunts and a bad pipers piping quiz.
We asked Josh Turner, Metering Manager about his favourite festive activity this year:
"In the realm of office Christmas games, the Valda Wrapped Christmas Quiz reigned supreme for me.
"Not just because my team won it, but because it was a great time to debate with others on topics like how much coffee the office consumed in a year.”
We’re often raising money for causes at Valda Energy and Christmas is known as a time for giving. So for December, Valda employees donated more than 50 Christmas gift bags to the Bicester Baby Bank Appeal for families impacted by the cost-of-living crisis.
Each gift filled with new clothes, food and more has been given to local children who might otherwise have gone without, due to the financial strain in households across the region.
Debbie Clack, Chair Trustee from Bicester Baby Bank said:
"This contribution is massive and helps us to progress closer to our target of 400 individual bags this year.
"Even more importantly, they will bring joy to the faces of children who might otherwise have faced a less festive season with no gifts whatsoever and without organisations like Valda we couldn’t make this dream of presents for children come true."
Our Head of Marketing, Lynsey Tamlyn added:
“This initiative is part of our overall charity programme, which aims to support lots of different initiatives across the year. By contributing to the Baby Bank Christmas Appeal, we know that, as a team, we are going some way to making a meaningful impact on the lives of children and families in our community.
"Thank you to all of our staff for their overwhelming support and generosity."
On 7 December, faces from around Valda Energy also dawned themselves in the best (and worst!) Christmas knits to raise money for Save the Children, a charity supporting children in the UK and around the world to keep them safe.
We raised nearly £70. That’s enough to either give almost two families who’ve escaped war in Ukraine enough food for a month, provide 13 children in the UK with the necessary maths material to be ready for school or pay for 60 pairs of shoes to keep babies warm in Afghanistan over winter.
With Christmas only around the corner, it was time for us to celebrate the end of the year with delicious food, fun games and plenty of laughter. It was a great time to reminisce over what we’d all achieved over the year and celebrate with colleagues outside of work.
To all our customers, colleagues and connections, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
