A team of dedicated volunteers from Bicester-based energy company Valda Energy took to the hills to plant trees as part of Stump Up For Trees initiative to bring nature back to South Wales for the third year. The effort is part of Valda Energy’s commitment to sustainability and giving back to the environment.
Over the course of the day, Valda Energy joined other volunteers and helped to plant over 500 trees, contributing to the charity’s goal of planting one million trees across South Wales. Stump Up For Trees works with local communities, farmers, and businesses to restore vital woodland areas, improving biodiversity and combating climate change.
Becky Baker, a Valda Energy volunteer who took part in the initiative, said: “It was incredibly rewarding to get hands-on and make a real difference. Knowing that these trees will grow and benefit the environment for generations to come is truly inspiring.
“Seeing the team come together, working side by side to plant trees in such a beautiful setting, really reinforced how small actions can lead to big changes. It’s initiatives like these that remind us of the importance of giving back to nature, and I’m proud to be part of a company that allows us to spend time doing things like this”.
Rob Penn from Stump Up For Trees added: “Having partners like Valda Energy involved in our initiative is invaluable. Their support allows us to accelerate our work and make a meaningful impact on the landscape and wildlife in South-east Wales.
“It was great seeing the team come together and get stuck in for the third year. Their contribution will leave a lasting legacy in this area. In four seasons, we have planted over 300,000 trees at over 100 sites in the region. With support, like that given by Valda Energy, we hope we can continue to grow and restore essential biodiversity to our landscapes”.
