Bicester-based Valda Energy has been working with local charity Sacks of Hope this festive season, as part of its Christmas initiative to tackle poverty across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
The charity, which was set up in 2019, works to provide sacks filled with essential groceries and hygiene products to help alleviate the burden of food insecurity for underprivileged families across the area. Members of the team from Valda Energy volunteered their time at Bicester Methodist Church, unloading goods funded by donations and packing them ready for families. A total of 464 sacks were made up and delivered to families before Christmas.
Ethan Guyatt, HR Assistant at Valda Energy said of his day of volunteering: “It was great to give back and lend a helping hand to Sacks of Hope over the Christmas season. The work the charity does locally is so valuable and seeing it hands-on was truly eye-opening. I’d recommend anyone in the area getting in touch and seeing how they can help out”.
Lawrence Patrick, founder of Sacks of Hope commented on the support from the local community: “I am so grateful of the support from the team at Valda Energy. The sense of togetherness and solidarity within the community has been overwhelming and it's clear that the people of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire truly care about supporting their neighbours in need. As we continue to grow, the level of involvement and enthusiasm only strengthens, ensuring that Sacks of Hope will continue to have a positive impact for years to come”.
